Selected Digital Media Publications

I have drawn the following selection of publications from my professional work in graphic design, videography, web design, photography, and physical design solutions.  Most of these are collaborative pieces so I am providing a preface to each piece explaining my contribution to the particular project. Clicking on the associated image will open a link to the published work if avalible.

Graphic Design Publications

With the Faith in Their First Year report, I worked with ACU faculty Amanda Pittman and John Boyles to craft an overall design that facilitated ease of understanding of their findings. We worked together to create visualizations that explained the story they wanted to bring out in the data they had collected. For that publication, I created all the charts and graphs from the data that John and Amanda provided. To differentiate the numerous types of information, I also developed a uniform color scheme for the document that would be beautiful and at the same time legible both in full color and for color-blind patrons. I was also responsible for the layout, typography, typesetting, cover design, and photography.

With these publications, my job was largely layout and design.  For the library’s Year in Review reports, I did the layout and some photography, but most of the photos were provided by the departments.  I was responsible for all design choices, page layouts, and cover artwork.  John Weaver and Molly Scherer chose the order and the department leaders were responsible for the content.

Personal Design Projects

These are logo’s and branding work that I did for my photography business.

Below are examples of things that are important to my family that I turned into brand designs and followed through with branding different materials. The tree is beautiful ancient tree in Tollymore Forest in Northern Ireland, a place special to my wife and me. The tractor belongs to one of our good friends and is symbolic of their land. I made the photographs and the etchings, screens, and stamps used to create thees.

Videography

I enjoy video work.  The pieces I have selected here were done in conjunction with various ACU departments.

CODI Intro is a piece I created for the Center. I created a logo for the center then used Adobe After Effects to animate the logo and build a video intro that could be combined with a still PowerPoint Slide so that faculty in the center could combine the animated intro into presentations with easily recorded voiceovers for a more professional appearance with minimal expense.

Significant Others is a book published by ACU Press written by Monte Cox. He also did a lecture series filmed and produced at Harding University over the same material. The DVD that I helped create was designed as a companion to the book that could be used to generate small group discussions.  Jason Fikes was the director and Duane Anderson was the executive producer, all the content was written by Monte Cox. The DVD’s consisted of each of the lectures with the addition of an introduction before and questions to ponder after done by Monte Cox.  My part in the production was to establish the look and feel of the intro and outro pieces and then work as the videographer and audio engineer for the portions of the production done on ACU’s campus. I also reworked the original cover artwork from the book in Adobe After Effects to create a title sequence for each lecture and establish a coherent visual theme between the book and the DVD series. I have attached a shortened version of the preface to the series that highlights the work I did on this project.

Web Design

I designed the ACU Brown Library website layout used from 2017 to 2020.  The site design was arrived at through a committee process involving interviews with library patrons and input from John Weaver, the dean of the library at the time.  I took the ideas from the committee and Dr. Weaver along with knowledge of preset templates used by DeFacto, ACU’s web developer, and built out a series of Adobe Photoshop files to represent the design of different pages.  The developer then took those designs and built out a series of templates that I took and populated with content to create the current site.  I have attached PDFs of my original Photoshop files with links to the corresponding web page.

Photography

This is the area that is primarily my own work.  Clicking on the image to the right will take you to my artist statement and work that made up my end of year dissertation show at the University of Ulster.  Only the first image was on display at the show owing to limited wall space and the fact that each image is designed to be printed at approximately one meter across.

Here is the link to my personal photography business website: http://www.chaigreenphotography.com/ This should give you an idea of some of the work I have done for clients. Since I started working for ACU in 2016 I have not been advertising as a photographer, but I have a few clients for whom I continue to produce images.
